Thackeray's novel "The Newcomes," as portrayed by the renowned English actor, Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree. The image was first introduced to audiences at His Majesty's Theatre in London on May 29, 1906, and later toured to the Lyceum in Edinburgh on September 24, 1906.
