The image, taken by renowned American artist and illustrator, Thomas H. Pyle, offers a poignant glimpse into the personal side of one of the most celebrated figures in American history. Lincoln, born on February 12, 1809, in Hodgenville, Kentucky, is shown seated at his desk, surrounded by the trappings of the presidency.
