Theodor Korner, (1936). German poet and soldier Carl Theodor Korner (1791-1813) joined the Lutzow Free Corps in the German uprising against Napoleon. Korner composed patriotic poetry to encourage his comrades, among these being the " Schwertlied" (Sword Song), written only a few hours before he was killed in battle aged 21.
