Mr Green traded in the South Yorkshire area for many years, eventually selling the business to the Co-op. Mr Green left a substantial sum to Mexboroughs Montague Hospital in his will which funded a new wing of the hospital. Mexboroughs bypass was later renamed in his memory. A Ford Anglia from Associated Dairies can be seen parked in the side street
