Helmuth Karl Bernard von Moltke, one of the most influential military figures in European history, is depicted in this striking photograph. Born on October 26, 1800, in Potsdam, Prussia, Moltke rose to prominence as a military strategist and served as the Chief of the General Staff of the Prussian Army from 1857 to 1888. His innovative military tactics and strategic planning played a significant role in the Prussian victories during the Danish Wars, the Austro-Prussian War, and the Franco-Prussian War. Moltke's military career began in 1816 when he joined the Prussian army as a second lieutenant.
