This photograph captures the distinguished and somber presence of General Sir Aylmer Gould Hunter-Weston, a British Army general and politician who played a significant role in the First World War and represented Bute and Northern Ayrshire in Parliament. Born in 1864, Sir Aylmer Hunter-Weston rose through the ranks of the British Army, serving with honor and bravery in various conflicts. He gained recognition for his leadership during the Gallipoli Campaign, where he commanded the 29th Division. After the war, he entered politics and was elected as the Member of Parliament for Bute and Northern Ayrshire in 1918.
