Known as the "Gatling Battery Gun" or simply "Gatling Gun," this particular model was designed by American inventor Richard Gatling and represented a major advancement in firepower and rate of fire. The Gatling Gun was unique in its use of a hand crank to turn a series of interconnected barrels, each of which was loaded with a cartridge belt. As one barrel fired, the next one would automatically be brought into position to fire, allowing the gun to deliver a continuous stream of bullets.
