Arabi: A Tale of Rebellion, War, and Imprisonment In the midst of Sudan Wars and Alexandria Bombarded, one name emerged as a symbol of resistance and insurrection - Arabi Pasha. The year was 1882 when Egypt witnessed the rise of this charismatic leader who would leave an indelible mark on its history. The streets were filled with chaos during The Insurrection under Arabi Pasha. But amidst the turmoil, there stood brave Bluejackets clearing the streets, determined to restore order in a city torn apart by conflict. As tensions escalated, The Rebellion Pasha shook Egypt to its core. In 1901, a powerful caricature depicted Sir Garnet Wolseley facing off against Ahmad Arabi - two figures representing opposing forces that clashed in their pursuit of power. Egypt after the war saw dramatic scenes unfold. At Cairo's trial Pasha, hearts raced as his fate hung in balance. Reading the Sentence of Death engraved forever in memory - justice served or injustice prevailed? Yet not all moments were marked by despair. Honourable Mark Napier bid farewell to Arabi and his fellow-exiles on their embarkation at Suez for Ceylon. A bittersweet moment captured in an engraving that spoke volumes about friendship forged amidst adversity. Behind bars lay The Imprisonment Pasha; confined but unbroken spirit radiating from within those walls. As he made his way from prison to court alongside Napier, crossing the Quadrangle of Daira Sanieh immortalized through another poignant engraving. Cartoonist Alexander Meyrick Broadley took inspiration from these events to create thought-provoking cartoons that encapsulated society's sentiments towards this enigmatic figure named Arabi. Finally, we soar above history itself with A Bird's Eye View capturing the Battle of Tel-el-Kebir in vivid color lithographs.
