This print titled "Lettre D Dragon" is a part of the "Petit alphabet illustre" collection, created by French School in the 19th century. The image is taken from a children's library called "Bibliotheque enfantine" specifically from the adorable series called "Serie mignonne". This charming album contains an illustrated alphabet, various alphabets, a syllabary, syllabic words, and even some phrases. With its petite size measuring 11x7.5cm and consisting of 12 pages, this album must have been cherished by young readers during the second half of the 19th century. The artwork itself depicts a military scene with soldiers dressed in uniform on horseback carrying rifles. The attention to detail is remarkable as every element including the horses and weapons are intricately engraved.
