Edward was the son of King Edward IV and his queen, Elizabeth Woodville, and was only eleven years old when his father died in April 1483. Following Edward IV's death, his brother Richard, Duke of Gloucester, seized the throne, placing Edward V under his guardianship in the Tower of London. However, just two months later, Edward and his younger brother, Richard Duke of York, were reportedly found dead in the Tower, an event that has been shrouded in controversy and conspiracy theories for centuries. In this print, Edward V is shown in regal attire, gazing upwards as if in anticipation of his imminent coronation.
