EDITORS COMMENTS
This print from 23rd September 1953 takes us back in time to witness the remarkable life of the Duke of Edinburgh. The Duke's extraordinary journey is beautifully captured in a half-hour documentary film, set to premiere in London and other Commonwealth capital cities this Friday. Behind the scenes, producer Howard Thomas dedicated an entire year meticulously reviewing countless reels of footage featuring the Duke. In this colorised image, we see a young Philip flashing a warm smile at his future wife, Princess Elizabeth (on the right). It is a tender moment frozen in time that foreshadows their enduring love story. Another scene from the film showcases the Duke alongside his royal family during Lady Patricia Mountbatten's wedding at Ramsey Abbey in 1946. The vibrant colors breathe new life into this historical snapshot, allowing us to immerse ourselves fully into that joyous occasion. The presence of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II adds an air of regality to this photograph.
