Charing Cross Railway Bridge, March 1860.
Engraving of the Charing Cross railway bridge over the Thames, with Westminster in the distance, from the Illustrated London News, 31st March 1860. This illustration was published whilst the bridge was still being constructed and Charing Cross station, which was built at the same time, only opened in 1864. In the middle distance, one can see two sailing barges 'dipping' their masts while they pass under the bridge.
