Busby Babes Collection

The Busby Babes were a team of young players from Manchester United Football Club, developed and managed by legendary manager Matt Busby. They rose to fame in the 1950s and 1960s, winning the FA Cup in 1948, the League Championship five times between 1955 and 1967, and becoming the first English team to win the European Cup in 1968. The team was made up of talented youngsters such as Bobby Charlton, Denis Law and George Best who went on to become some of football's greatest stars. They were renowned for their attacking style of play which saw them score plenty of goals but also concede many at times. Despite their success on the pitch, tragedy struck when eight members of the squad died in an air crash while returning from a European Cup match in 1958. This devastating event marked an end to an era for Manchester United but also served as a reminder that sport can bring both joy and sorrow.
