EDITORS COMMENTS
Once upon a time in the scorching heat of the Sahara Desert, in the heart of Africa, a big game hunter named Thackeray, clad in his worn-out helmet and pith helmet, prepared for the hunt of a lifetime. With a determined look in his eyes and a lance in hand, he set out to bag the elusive jolly lion of Timbuktu, Mali. As he ventured deeper into the desert, the lion, with a mischievous glint in his eyes, sprang into action. The hunter, who had become the hunted, was taken by surprise as the lion pounced, leaving him in a state of shock and disbelief. With his last ounce of strength, Thackeray managed to send out a postcard to his loved ones, bearing the address "In Red Lion, Timbuktu," before succumbing to the lion's hunger. The postcard, now a relic of a daft mishap, features a cactus-dotted landscape and the image of a jolly lion, licking its lips in amusement. The hunter's humorous last address serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of the African wilderness and the importance of respecting the power and cunning of the creatures that inhabit it. This humorous yet poignant moment in time is captured in this vintage postcard from 1906, a testament to the thrills and mishaps of the great African safari.
