Known for his involvement in organized crime and gangland violence, Capone was infamously evasive when it came to questions about his role in the underworld. Here, he is seen offering his standard response to enquiries about his involvement in gang-related slaughter: "I know nothing about it, Chief." The image is all the more intriguing with the inclusion of a portrait of Big Jim Colosimo and his wife, shortly after their marriage, at the bottom of the photograph. Colosimo was an Italian-American mobster who ruled Chicago's criminal underworld in the early 1900s before being assassinated in 1925. Capone, who was once Colosimo's bodyguard, took over the Chicago Outfit after his boss's death.
